The business community of East Jordan will be starting the holiday season with their new event, “Mingle and Jingle”, on Saturday, November 27th. The event will debut at 4:00 PM as residents and visitors gather around the Community Tree to light up the huge tree located at the corner of Spring and Hammond Streets. Following the official tree lighting by Luanne Reed, the Community’s’ longest running Citizen of the Year, and Mayor Mark Penzien the attendees will fill the air with Christmas carols from 4:00 PM to 4:30 PM. Participating Businesses throughout the town will be hosting open houses with special sales, refreshments and socializing. The “Jubilee of Trees for 501-C3’s” will be one of the activities taking place that evening at The Boathouse on Lake Charlevoix located at 204 Water Street. Decorated trees will be on display in a silent auction from 4:30 PM t 8:00 PM. Winning bidders will write their checks to a local 501-C3 of their choice and take their trees home or donate it to a family in need, care facility, etc. A bake sale, music by the Community Band and light refreshments will be available at The Boathouse. Restaurants will be offering special family dining menus from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM. The Jordan River Arts Council will be offering a Craft Kit to children and their gift shop will be open along with their “Members Art Fair Sale”. They are located at 310 Main Street. The celebration continues at 8:00 PM with the restaurants and wine tasting businesses “Holiday Cheer on the Jingle Trail”. Special games, “carol-okie” and other fun will be found on the “Jingle Trail” that evening.

Pick up your “Passport Card” at The Boathouse during the event on November 27th, get your card punched at least five times when you make purchases at participating businesses to be eligible for the drawing.
